Travellers tend to overlook their safari destination and surroundings amidst all the excitement of being on holiday. So we have put together a few tips on how you can enjoy ‘staying in camp’ at Elephants Crossing!

The excitement of travelling to Africa for a safari holiday always leaves us wanting to make the most of the time we have there. Between the game drives and other activities, keeping the kids entertained, to making sure our camera batteries are fully charged when it’s time to spot the big five. This is where guests tend to overlook the features the lodge has to offer that make it a home away from home experience…
So we have decided to list our top reasons to ‘stay in camp’ and simply enjoy your stay at Elephants Crossing in between the scheduled activities.
Elephants Crossing is our newest addition to the Crossing Lodges family and recently built to offer an exclusive luxury tented experience with cinematic seating and panoramic views of the Welgevonden Game Reserve. The lodge itself is enough to steal your heart as it shows just how beautiful the Waterberg bush can truly be, but here’s what guests really have to look forward to once they’ve arrived through our doors:
Sundowners on the deck with roaming wildlife!
Our gorgeous wood deck boasts a fireplace with comfortable seating to simply sit back, relax and take in all that nature has to offer – it is a holiday after all!
We recommend a fresh glass of wine or your cocktail of choice to enjoy while overlooking the bush. This also gives you an opportunity to spot roaming wildlife. Elephants in particular love to pass by through the bush below, giving guests an up close experience without even needing to be out on a game drive!
Our plunge pools!
One of our signature features at Elephants Crossing is our private plunge pools that are installed on the deck of every tent! These plunge pools are perfect for the kids to splash around while parents lay back on the sunbeds on the deck and soak up that African sun.
The pools all have a magnificent view of the bush, and also make a special and romantic moment for couples who just want to spend some time together enjoying the relaxing sounds of nature that surround.

Make use of your own boma in the private villa!
For our families staying in the bush villa, there’s more than enough reason to have a ‘stay in camp’ day at Elephants Crossing. The villa has its very own private boma where guests can spend the afternoon or evenings feeling right at home around the fire while sharing a drink or two with family and friends. The large deck allows for younger ones to play and spot game together, making it the perfect family bonding experience – all in the comfort of your own space!
Our main lodge bar!
Let us make a toast as you join us in the main lodge bar area where we mingle with fellow guests and make new friends. Our bar is always fully stocked with wines, beers, liquors and soft drinks with bar stools and nearby couches to completely unwind and have a bit of fun.
Make our home yours by choosing your preferred dining view!
Take advantage of the luxury that comes with a safari holiday by indulging in delightful cuisine during your dining experience! At Elephants Crossing, we serve our guests refined meals using our ever-growing vegetable garden from our sister lodge – Zebras Crossing.
What makes this a special experience is we allow guests to enjoy their breakfasts, lunch or dinners either on the widespread deck or inside the main lodge next to the cosy fireplace – the choice is yours!

The bush outside shower!
Every traveller should experience the classic outside bush shower during their safari holiday. Each spacious outside shower is built with tall orange and grey stone walls giving you complete privacy and nothing but the beautiful thick trees to shadow you as you freshen up.
Set some time to thoroughly enjoy these simple pleasures that seem small but play a huge part in your overall bush experience at Elephants Crossing.
